Message to Family

Are you familiar with the concept of "filial piety?" Not many are. It is a virtue of Eastern Cultures which focuses on honoring, caring for and respecting our parents. It is normal to have reservations about moving parents to a retirement community. There may be feelings of guilt or abandonment. Perhaps promises were made at one time concerning moving to a "nursing home." Times have changed and in a relatively short period! Today’s retirement looks nothing like the "old folks" home which our parents may remember and rightfully fear. The choices today provide a remarkable time to enjoy life without the cares and responsibilities of home ownership. In addition, safety and security provide tremendous peace of mind for all concerned. That is why the education and choice of the community is so important. Our residents frequently tell us they wished they had made the decision earlier.

As your loved one requires more care or chronic illness becomes debilitating, the loving, compassionate staff is ready and able to meet those needs. Pat and Judy have a personal philosophy of honoring, respecting and caring for elders. The staff is oriented and trained to maintain this life view and carry out their daily work accordingly.

This is the Chinese symbol for “filial piety.” The top portion is the symbol for parents and the bottom symbol is for child. The curve, or cradle, between creates the symbol of a child supporting the parent. What a beautiful reminder that the exploratory work you are doing is a way to respect and honor your elders.
